he has been making records since 1960, and has quite a back
catalogue.
he has worked with george martin and mike leander.
he was born :-Paul Francis Gadd on 8 May 1944.he is a singer and songwriter who has recorded under the names of
paul raven and gary glitter.
his back catalogue is very impressive.
he had 38 singles.
he had 12 albums, 4 of which were live albums.
he had 13 compilation albums.
he appeared on numerous high profile shows for television right up to
1997.
life in the spotlight took its toll on gary in many varied ways.
there was the stress of the life itself.
the possibility that he may no longer be sucessfull.
there was the bankruptcy issues.
there was the fall from fame.
there was the comebacks.there was the tabloid press,, who it has to be said, had something of
a growth spurt from the eighties onwards where they tested the waters
with anything and everything that could bring down any star from any
part of the performing profession.
there was the live gang shows in later years, all of which got harder
and more physically demanding each year.
there was age and getting older.
then there was the arrest on charges of owning child porn images on a
laptop computer.
there are those that believe that the images were not in fact his,
but were on the hard drive from a previous owner.
the tabloid press being what they were, they sunk their teeth in and
ran with it.
as a result, gary was hounded into the courts and was formally
charged with ownership of the images.
subsequently, found guilty, he was sentenced to 4 months jail.
he served 2 months of that sentence.
he was also chatrged with having sex with an underage girl who was 14
at the time.
she decided to milk it for all it was worth.
she sold her story to the press,,, with the promise that if gary was
convicted they would pay even more to her for the story.
it was decided that she had plenty to gain from securing a
conviction, and that made her an unsafe witness.
in the year 2002 he was arrested on suspicion of sex offences, but
released without charge,, and it was fair to say that due to tabloid
lies about him, other countries were understandably not interested in
having him on their soil.
you see the idea was that they should hound him out of the buisness
but keep him in britain, where they could watch and intimidate him
for the rest of his life.
but he managed to leave them wallowing around in the shite of their
own making.
because he managed to give the press the slip, they had no
alternative but to find him and warn others about him.
every time gary surfaced, the press was not far away.
they made life quite difficult for him until in the end, they
destroyed his career.
but did they?
even after his arrest, and conviction, he still managed to sell
records and cd's.
he may not have sold as much as in his heyday, but he sold them none
the less.
even in 2005 he was selling a live album, and in 2006 he was selling
a compilation album.to me, thats money in the bank.
its also a big victory over the tabloid press, who tried so hard to
discredit him and destroy his career.
i havent even bothered to mention the charges brought in a vietnamese
court over the sexual assault accusations of 2 girls (most likely a set up by the taboid press hungry for another story!).
gary denied any wrong-doing and claimed not to have knowingly had sex
with anyone under 18.
He also said "I know the line not to cross.if gary had been found guilty of sex with a minor in vietnam, he could have got a 14 year sentence, but he got just a 3 year sentence,
which was later reduced by 3 months.that sentence was just enough to discredit him further with the effect that his public career was finally over.
in a way, the tabloids had won.
but in truth, not everyone believes that gary was guilty of any of
these charges.
certainly the hardcore fanbase of gary can see through the crap and
they know the truth.
i certainly believe that most of what has happened to gary over the
years has been tabloid driven.
i do not believe that he is a paedophile now, and i dont believe he
ever has been!
i believe he has worked hard over the years to attain a position in
life where he can feel respected and loved and yes wanted by his
public.
i do not believe he would have thrown all that way for a quick jump
with a slapper with an agenda (maybe this description is wrong,,, i
am not sure how to word it),,, and once convicted, allbeit on false
charges of child porn image possession,, he would not go and do
anything else like that with the knowledge that the press is looking
over his shoulder, no matter where he went in the world.
as a result of what i know and have read, coupled with gut instinct
and what gary had to lose,,, i trully believe that gary was wrongly
accused, wrongly convicted, and wrongly disconnected from the public
by what is now known to be a bitter and twisted tabloid press institution, run by
liars theives and cheats with a penchant for making and breaking
stars at will.
as a direct result of the tabloids assasination of the career of gary
glitter, his whole back catalogue is now ignored deliberatly by all
media sources and the entertainment industry as a whole.
the back catalogue speaks for itself.
its worth mentioning that the vast majority of it was made before any
charges were brought against him, and as such, as a work of art, it
stands alone in its own right, and its head and shoulders above
anything the tabloid press could claim credit for.

to the hardcore fans of gary.
you have my heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your / our performer
and the playing of his music.

to gary glitter,,, you also have my heartfelt sympathy for the loss
of your career and public life, and also the deliberate assasination
of your good character.

its time the tabloid press were outlawed.
they have no place in our society with their lies and their evil.

once more to the hardcore fans of gary glitter,,, i am not a hardcore
fan, but i hate injustice,, therefore i continue to play his music
and enjoy if for what it should be,,, the tabloids cant take that
away from me.
i grew up with gary and his music, i see it as mine, and i will only
share it with true fans,, AND LOVE IT FOR WHAT IT IS,, A WORK OF ART.

dont let his name and music die, keep it alive, sing it, speak it,
but enjoy it!
